Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka State Adidravida Maadiga Horata Samithi has urged the Government to drop educational qualification clause in the appointment of Pourakarmikas in Civic Bodies across the State.
Addressing a press meet recently, Samithi President D.R. Raju termed the Government’s move to stipulate SSLC or equivalent qualification for appointment of Pourakarmikas on the lines of recruitment of Gram Swaraj staff, as unscientific and illogical. Urging the Government to regularise the services of 6,580 Pourakarmikas serving in GPs across the State, Raju said that reservation matrix for the appointment too is unscientific.
Citing an example, he said that the MCC had invited applications for appointment of 173 Pourakarmikas in 2017-18, reserving some posts for ex-servicemen and other categories. But only 70 posts were filled up, while there were hardly any applications for other category reserved posts and as such, 103 posts remained unfilled, he maintained.
Accusing the Government of showing a step-motherly attitude towards Pourakarmikas, he urged the authorities to maintain the policy of one Pourakarmika for every 1,000 citizens.
Urging the Government to drop unscientific ways of appointment and deployment of Pourakarmikas, Raju warned of stopping work if the services of Pourakarmikas are not regularised.
Samithi office-bearers M. Mahadev, Dinesh Kumar, Manchaiah and others were present.
