A liver diseases awareness programme by Apollo BGS Hospitals

Mysore/Mysuru: Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, had organised ‘Punarjanma’, a liver disease awareness programme at Ganabharathi’s auditorium in Kuvempunagar on May 15.

 Over 250 people attended the event which was inaugurated by noted Music Director and Composer Arjun Janya in the presence of N.G. Bharateesha Reddy, Vice-President & Unit Head, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru; Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Chief Gastroenterologist and Head of Institutes of Gastrosciences, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru; Dr. Suresh Raghavaiah, Senior Consultant HPB and Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon, Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru; Dr. S. Nairuthya, Chief Gastrointestinal Surgeon, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru; Dr. V. Yashavanth Kumar, Consultant Hepato-biliary & Liver Transplant Surgeon, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru and Dr. Arti Behl, Consultant Psychiatrist, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru.

Addressing the audience, Arjun Janya called upon them to follow doctors advise and make use of such programmes.

Lauding Apollo BGS Hospitals  for its healthcare services, he expressed his gratitude to the Doctors and the Hospital team.  He urged people to sign up for Organ Donation and save the patient waitlisted for an organ.

Bharateesha Reddy spoke about the importance and awareness of liver diseases among public, which can go a long way in helping them overcome significant health challenges. He explained how the hospital is transforming patients’ lives with chronic liver diseases through liver transplants.

Dr. Rajkumar Wadhwa called upon the patients to heed to their health, control alcohol intake, cut smoking, maintain ideal body weight, avoid stress & self-medication to protect the vital organ. He gave valuable insights to patients suffering from acute and chronic liver diseases.

Dr. Suresh Raghavaiah presented case studies on organ donations and transplants; Dr. Nairuthya and Dr. Yashavanth Kumar spoke about surgical aspect of liver transplants;  Dr. Arti Behl touched upon psychological challenges and overcoming them in alcohol addicts and patients suffering from liver diseases.

The Hospital management urged Arjun Janya to spread awareness among people through his music on organ donation and the importance of keeping the liver healthy.
