‘Ayurveda, Yoga practices lead to a healthy, happy life’

Mysuru:  “Ayurveda and Yoga plays an important role in one’s life to keep one’s body and mind healthy,” said Dr. M.S. Sudha, Ayurveda Doctor and Yoga Expert, Agasthya Ayurveda Hospital, Mysuru.

She was delivering a talk on ‘How to lead a happy and healthy life,’ at the monthly lecture series organised by Elder Citizen’s Council, Jayalakshmipuram, at its Saraswathi Samudaya Bhavan here recently.

Dr. Sudha gave various health tips and said that control of food habits as per nature and consuming vegetables grown in different changed seasons would keep one healthy and happy.

Pranayama was an important aspect of yoga and by practising it one can have control over mind, the hormones and glands and this would help maintain harmony with family members so that the feeling of loneliness at the ripe age could be avoided, she said.

Ayurveda treatment gives complete relief to the body from any kind of tension, as in the modern life people have become accustomed to mechanised activities unlike in the past when body had good exercises at home, she said.

Referring to the practice of yoga, asanas, yama, niyama, she said that by doing this, one would get more positive thoughts by letting out negative thoughts which would in turn make the mind fresh. Through yogasanas and pranayama, we are able to breathe in more oxygen to give fresh air to the body, whether it is young or old, and improves the metabolism, she added.

She also advised people to have annual check-up of prostate glands and hormones and to drink more water and keep laughing as an exercise daily for a healthy life.

The talk followed with an interaction session. S.V. Gowdappa, Chairman of the Building Trust, thanked the chief guest for explaining in vast, the benefits of Yoga, Ayurveda,  the various food habits for a healthy life.

Council Secretary Venkateshaiah proposed a vote of thanks and said that such health care programmes are useful to the members and appealed the members to bring with them more  members to get benefited.

Council President Krishnappa Gowda, Vice-President Sushila Marigowda, Treasurer V.N. Achar, Past President Dr. Nagaraj and Committee Members K.V. Ramanath, Latha, Ramanna and others were present during  the programme.
