Farmer leader Badagalapura Nagendra feted

Mysuru:  Alleging that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) was forcibly acquiring fertile lands for forming a township at Ballahalli in the taluk, newly elected President of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) Badagalapura Nagendra has demanded sites and family allowance for land-loser farmer families.

Speaking to press-persons during a meeting of farmers at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here recently, Badagalapura Nagendra said that the life of farmers lied in the farmlands which the MUDA has proposed to acquire for a layout and township at Ballahalli.

As such, the Government should provide sites as well as family allowance for land-loser farmers as an alternative livelihood, he maintained and added that the KRRS would take up the cause of farmers in this regard.

Pointing out that the KRRS, which is part of Swaraj India party, will fight the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls with the concept of ‘Bharavaseya Bharata’ (Hopeful India), he said that Swaraj India will contest the polls with agrarian crisis and unemployment as main issues.

KRRS will oppose Disneyland: Asserting that the KRRS will continue to oppose the proposed Disneyland-like project at KRS, he said that the project will adversely affect the eco-system and also Cauvery water will get polluted. Reiterating that the KRRS will strongly oppose the project, Nagendra said that the installation of the 125 ft. tall Cauvery statue will endanger the dam’s safety.

Earlier, Badagalapura Nagendra, who was elected as the new KRRS and Hasiru Sene Chief, was felicitated.
