BJP expels senior rebel leader Eshwarappa

April 23, 2024

Bengaluru: Days after he rebelled against the party over the denial of BJP ticket for his son and filed his nomination from the prestigious Shivamogga LS seat as an independent candidate, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has been expelled from the party for six years.

BJP State Disciplinary Committee President Lingaraj Patil in his expulsion order, said “Eshwarappa had grossly violated the Party’s discipline by contesting and causing severe embarrassment to the party by doing so”.

The BJP top brass decision to not give the party ticket from Haveri-Gadag LS seat to his son K.E. Kantesh had riled Eshwarappa and since then he began targeting party leaders. Eshwarappa also chose to contest the Shivamogga seat as an independent candidate by ignoring the Party’s calls not to contest. As Eshwarappa has remained in the fray, the BJP has expelled him from the party for six years on charges of indiscipline,  rebelling against the party and contesting the LS polls.

Meanwhile, Eshwarappa, who is upset with former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY) and his son Vijayendra, who is the State BJP Chief, reacted to his expulsion, targeting veteran BJP leader BSY and his son Vijayendra.

Alleging that the father-son duo had lied all along, Eshwarappa said that he is contesting the polls in order to teach a lesson to the duo who had betrayed him.

Asserting  that he would win from Shivamogga, Eshwarappa maintained that 60 percent of the BJP workers in Shivamogga were with him.

“I had said from the beginning that my fight is not against the BJP, but is against the running of the party by a single family in the State. If elected, I will support Modi for the third term”, he pointed out adding that he was happy with his poll symbol (Farmer) that he has got from the Election Commission.
