Bengaluru: Senior BJP leaders R. Ashoka and Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan on Tuesday announced a series of yatras across Karnataka, including a Tiranga Yatra in Bengaluru on May 15, to express solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces and to honour their role in safeguarding national security.
Speaking to reporters, Ashoka said, “This is not a political programme — there will be no party flags or slogans. On May 15, the yatra will be held in Bengaluru. After that, it will extend to every taluk and district across Karnataka. Citizens from all corners of the country are welcome to participate and show their support.”
He added that the Bengaluru event would be followed by a week-long campaign covering the rest of the State. “To show our support for Operation Sindoor and the Armed Forces, Tiranga Yatras will be organised Statewide. This is a citizens’ movement, and we urge everyone to join in,” Ashoka reiterated.
Nationwide: May 13 – 23
According to party sources, BJP’s Tiranga Yatra will be conducted nationwide between May 13 and 23. Senior BJP leaders Sambit Patra, General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh will oversee the campaign. Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States, and other prominent party figures are also expected to lead processions in their regions.
The campaign will feature participation from ex-servicemen, social workers, and notable public figures, aiming to create awareness about Operation Sindoor and its broader implications for national security and sovereignty.
Echoing Ashoka’s views, Dr. Ashwathnarayan stressed the importance of national unity in the face of terrorism. Referring to the recent attack in Pahalgam, he said, “Our soldiers responded with precision and strength, delivering significant blows to Pakistan’s air bases and terror training camps with minimal or no losses on our side. This demonstrates India’s enhanced defence capabilities, now on par with the best in the world.”
“This is not just about Kashmir — this is about eliminating terrorism at its root. Those supporting terror networks will face consequences. Our strong response has already forced Pakistan to de-escalate,” Dr. Ashwathnarayan said and urged citizens from all walks of life to join in expressing gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces and to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose leadership, he said, enabled such decisive action.
