BJS hosts ‘Smart Girl’ workshop

Mysuru: Bharatiya Jain Sanghatan (BJS), Mysuru, had organised ‘Smart Girl’ workshop in Mysuru for girls in the age group of 13-21 years. Smart Girl is a two-day prog. designed after thorough research by experts to make the life of daughters happy, safe and secure.

The training comprises five modules — (1) Self Awareness, (2) Communication & Relationships, (3) Self Esteem & Self Defence, (4) Choices & Decisions and (5) Friendship & Temptations. It concludes with a parenting skill session for parents for them to understand the needs of their daughters.

To empower the daughters of Mysuru, BJS Mysuru had announced to conduct workshops at different localities in Mysuru. The programme is given free of cost to the girl students. In response to online and offline enrolments, workshops were held at the following venues:

  • Sri Seervi Bhavan, Halladakeri, Mysuru: The workshop was conducted by Resource Person Sangeeta Srisrisrimaal from Mysuru. About 90 girls participated. The entire programme was organised and sponsored by The Karnataka Seervi Samaj, Yuvak Mandal and Mahila Mandal of Mysuru.

Durgaram Pawar (President – The Karnataka Seervi Samaj), Danaram Choyal (Treasurer), Manglaram Kag (Secretary), Daglaram Choyal (Past President), Pukhraj Pariyar (Past Secretary) and other senior members of the organisation were present. Deepak Bohra (Vice-President – BJS Mysuru Chapter), Rajan Baghmar (State Head – SAP), Bhavika Gala from BJS Mysuru and Nisha Jain, Harshita Jain, Sheetal Dak, Bhavya Srisrimaal from BJS Youth Wing were also present.

  • Sri Sthanak Bhavan, Halladakeri, Mysuru: The workshop was conducted by Resource person Piyush Balai from Shivamogga. There were 45 participants. This programme was also organised and sponsored by The Karnataka Seervi Samaj, Mysuru.
  • Sadvidya Composite PU College, Narayan Shastri Road, Mysuru: Workshop was conducted by Resource Person Rajesh Sisodia from Chikmagalur. In all, 58 girls including students from Sadvidya PU College participated. Indumati, Lecturer in English, was present from the institution.  The programme was sponsored by Bhavarlalji, Nemichandji Srimal (Prathiba Jewellers), Mysuru.

Kanthilal Gulecha (Regional Secretary, Mysuru Region), Prakash Srisrimaal (President – BJS Mysuru), Vimal Pitliya (Treasurer – BJS Mysuru), Vikas Jain, Dr. Vikram Jain, Sukhraj Vinayakiya, Abhishek Singavi, Manoj Kochar, Members from BJS Mysuru and Priyanka Gulecha, Harshita Gandhi, Shivani Bhandari, Nikhil Vohra, Bhavesh Vohra, Rahul Srisrimaal from BJS Youth Wing were present.

  • Gopalswamy PU College, Lakshmipuram, Mysuru: Workshop was conducted by Resource Person Dhanlakshmi, Assistant Professor in Commerce, Govt. First Grade College, Bilikere.

A total of 27 girls participated in the programme. All the participants were students of first and second year PU from the same institution.

Sowmya, Lecturer from the institution, was present along with Prakash Gulecha (BJS State Head – Smart Girl programme and Secretary – BJS Mysuru), Abhishek Gulecha and Preeti Marlecha from BJS Youth Wing.

BJS has been partnering with several NGOs to make these programmes available to the young girls. BJS provides trained and certified Resource Persons to conduct these programmes without any financial cost.
