June 19, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa has said that  blood donation is the greatest of all donations and expressed his happiness about the increasing awareness about blood donation among the people, of late.

The MLA was speaking after inaugurating a Blood Donation Camp organised to commemorate ‘World Blood Donation Day’ at Suyog Hospital, Ramakrishnanagar in city, on June 14.

“Suyog Hospital is a prestigious Hospital of the city and is providing affordable medical services to the people of the city which is commendable. In addition, the Hospital is also organising awareness programmes about Blood Donation, Environment and Social Health, which is different from similar institutions,” said MLA Srivatsa.

Chairman of Suyog Hospital Dr. S.P. Yoganna, who also spoke at the camp, said that blood has many components like Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC),White Blood Corpuscles (WBC), Platelets, Blood Clotting and  Immunity enhancing substances. All these components can be separated and given to the needy. Before giving blood to the needy, the sample will be tested for HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Malaria and other diseases, he added.

“The blood will be destroyed in human body naturally every three months and it is a noble act to donate blood to save lives. The quantity of blood donated will be reproduced in just three months,” said Dr. Yoganna and concluded by saying that since blood cannot be manufactured artificially, blood donors must come forward in large numbers to  donate blood.

More than 70 people donated blood in the camp.

Suyog Hospital Managing Director Dr. Suyog Yoganna, Medical Director Dr. Rajendraprasad, Directors Dr. Seema Yoganna, Chief Executive Officer Dr. M.V. Manjunath, Suyog Nursing College Principal Nagamani and others were present.
