Boti Bazar meat vendors appeal MCC to allow business 5 days a week

May 25, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: With the ever buzzing Boti Bazar Mutton Market on Aane Sarot Road in the heart of the city completely shut on account of COVID-induced lockdown, the crisis-hit vendors have sought permission for limited opening  of the market for at least five days a week, including Sunday.

Mysuru District Mutton Merchants Association Joint Secretary S. Nagendra, who is a mutton seller at the Boti Bazar market, told Star of Mysore that a memorandum will be soon submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner seeking permission for opening the market in compliance with all COVID-19 SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

Noting that Boti Bazar was completely shut down over three weeks ago following Government guidelines for COVID management, he said that the vendors are facing huge financial problems due to the sudden stoppage of business.

Contending that the opening of the market will ease the crowd at Mutton shops in localities, he said that more than 300 people are dependent on Boti Bazar for their livelihood. Now, with the market shut due to lockdown, these people are finding it difficult to eke out a living, Nagendra said and added that the District Administration and the Government should come to their rescue by allowing limited opening of the market with all COVID guidelines in place.
