Civic Workers Association demands compensation, job for injured Pourakarmika’s wife

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation Permanent and Contract Civic Workers Association Hon. President M. Vadivelu, has demanded compensation and a job for injured Pourakarmika Mahadeva’s wife.

Mahadeva lost one of his legs and his other leg has been badly damaged when a car rammed into him while he was collecting garbage on Devaraj Urs Road on Sunday early morning.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Vadivelu demanded Rs. 25 lakh compensation for Mahadeva, who has lost his leg and a job to Mahadeva’s wife on compassionate grounds as Mahadeva cannot discharge his duties.

Vadivelu also urged for a house to Mahadeva at Kesare, treatment cost be borne by the MCC and financial assistance to Mahadeva’s children to continue their education.

The Association also urged for legal action against the accused driver, who had committed the accident resulting in Mahadeva losing one of his legs and damaging the other.

Association’s High Committee General Secretary T. Srinivas, who too spoke, said that a memorandum to provide crisis allowance has already been submitted, but the MCC is delaying to deposit the allowance and added that there is a need to sanction crisis allowance of Rs. 2,000 to all Pourakarmikas.

He further said that MCC should provide a special allowance of Rs. 7,000 to each Pourakarmika, totalling Rs. 37.87 crore from its fund, during Pourakarmika Day to be celebrated on Sept. 23 and this matter should be brought during the Council Meeting and approved.  Association Hon. Secretary M.V. Venkatesh, President R. Narasimha, Gen. Secretary G. Manjunath and Dinesh were present at the press meet.
