Coconut tree climber falls to death

Bannur: A 38-year-old man, who had climbed a coconut tree to pluck coconuts at Bannur, died after slipping and falling from the tree yesterday.

The deceased is Manju (38), a resident of Ganiganakoppal near Bannur. He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and one son.

Yesterday afternoon, Manju had climbed the coconut tree behind Bannur Town Municipal Council Office. Meanwhile, deceased Manju’s wife in her complaint to Bannur Police has stated that, her husband was taken to pluck coconuts from the tree grown in the premises of a prayer hall. As precautionary steps were not taken, her husband fell from the tree and lost his life. Holding the management of the prayer hall responsible for her husband’s death, the woman has urged the Police to get her compensation from the prayer hall management.
