A construction work is being undertaken on the Guest House Road in Nazarbad, between the Canara Bank, Nazarbad Branch and Hotel Siddartha. For quite sometime now the contractor of the building under construction has placed construction material on the busy main road and the same has become a public nuisance.

The vehicles coming from three directions converge on this road and ply at high speeds very near to the strewn construction material. Added to this, vehicles especially in the night zoom past from the Hardinge Circle side against the one-way rule. These vehicles also speed past very near the construction material on the road.

Whenever I walk on the road in the night near the construction material I do so holding my breath praying that I cross the stretch safely. One does not know whether the construction materials have been kept on the road with the permission of the authorities or unauthorisedly; and, in the latter case one would like to know what action has been taken by the authorities.

One ‘positive’ development in recent times has been that the people have developed confidence that nothing would happen to them even if they flagrantly violate the law.
