Cyber crime awareness workshop for NCC cadets

May 21, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: The 14 Karnataka Battalion NCC recently organised a cyber crime awareness workshop for 544 NCC cadets at Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama in city.

The NCC enlisted the expertise of Crime Intervention Officer Prof. B.M. Nandini and Dr. Shashank Dhananjaya to lead the workshop.

Cadets were educated on the vulnerabilities of dark web, cyber stalking, deep fakes, malware, social engineering, phishing, smishing, vishing, SMS frauds, e-SIM frauds, job scams, cyberbullying and sugar daddy scams.

In addition, awareness was spread on secure search engine practices, desktop sharing risks, password security and e-mail safety. They were equipped with the knowledge to identify potential intrusions into their personal digital domains and cyber crime case studies were analysed.

The Cyber Crime Workshop aligns with NCC’s commitment to nurturing cadets as cyber warriors and disseminating acquired knowledge to others. The 14 Karnataka Battalion is the overall ‘Champion Battalion’ in the order of merit.

This activity underscores NCC’s dedication to grooming future leaders of society.

Commanding Officer Col. Sidharth Vatsayan and Deputy Commandant Col. Prabhakaran emphasised that the camp training provided cadets with opportunities for overall personality development, fostering community living, unity and discipline. They attributed the programme’s success to all the Battalion’s dedicated staff.
