Deen Dayal Student Hostel to come up in city: Minister

Mysore/Mysuru: Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that a Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hostel for accommodating over a thousand students from Backward communities will soon come up in the city.

He was speaking after inaugurating the second-day programme of the nine-day ‘Modi Yug Utsav-2022’ event organised under the leadership of KR MLA S.A. Ramdas marking the birthday of Prime Minister Modi, at Ramalingeshwara park in Vidyaranyapuram here this morning.

Lauding Ramdas for his initiatives, Poojary said that it is Dr.  B.R.  Ambedkar’s constitution that is responsible for ensuring that even the last person in the society get Government benefits and facilities. Maintaining that working for the cause of Pourakarmikas, manhole workers and UGD workers is a real service to the society, Poojary asserted that his department was working overtime to empower the poor and the downtrodden.

Complimenting Ramdas for his job as a Legislator, Poojary said that the work of the MLA was very much emulative for others. Highlighting the initiatives of PM Modi for the benefit and upliftment and empowerment of the poor, women and other weaker sections, he appreciated the efforts of Ramdas in reaching the benefits to the doorsteps of targeted beneficiaries. 

Stressing on the need for imparting skills training to youth, the Minister said that there are plans to build a big library at a cost of Rs. 4 crore for children, the place of which is yet to be decided.

MLA S.A. Ramdas, Corporators Shantamma Vadivelu, Sharadamma and others were present.

Hundreds of K.R. Constituency beneficiaries of different schemes under a host of SC/ST welfare programmes will be distributed benefits today.
