Mysore/Mysuru: The demand for chicken meat and fish shot up today as most mutton traders in city stopped selling sheep and goat meat citing loss.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) had fixed a price of Rs. 500 per kg of sheep and goat meat as the traders were found selling the same at exorbitant price. Chicken meat is being sold at Rs. 200 per kg today.
Long queues were found in front of shops selling chicken meat and fish at Gokulam 1st Stage, K.G. Koppal, Nanjumalige, Mandi Mohalla, Udayagiri, Tilaknagar, Kailaspuram and other localities in city. Customers were seen maintaining social distance while standing in queues in front of meat shops.
Shops selling sheep, goat and chicken meat have been permitted to sell the meat only on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 6 am to 6 pm.
