Mysore/Mysuru: Hundreds of distributors, wholesalers and retailers of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and members of Mysuru Chemists and Druggists Association, under the aegis of Mysuru District Distributors’ Association, took out a massive rally in the city on Friday demanding a ban on online trading and setting up of a Trade Board at the national level.

The rally, which commenced from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate, passed through Gandhi Square, Sayyaji Rao Road, Shivarampet, D. Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road and Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Metropole Circle), before reaching the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where a memorandum was presented seeking a ban on online trading and a uniform pricing policy across the country.

Alleging that e-commerce companies and Hypermarket chains are luring not just customers with heavy discounts on a variety of Fast Moving Consumer Goods  and other items of daily use, but also retailers with huge cuts, the protesters demanded constitution of a Trade Board at the                                 national level to regulate discounts and pricing.

Seeking  a uniform pricing policy across the country, like ‘One Nation One Tax,’ they  claimed that the livelihood of more than 10 crore families are threatened by online and e-commerce giants, which are out to grab their business by offering huge discounts to customers. 

The distributors want an end to unhealthy and unethical business practices by online and e-commerce companies and to safeguard traditional business by setting up of a National Level Trade Board.

Mysuru District Distributors’ Association President  A.S. Chethan, Vice-President B.K. Satish, Secretary Manoj R. Kotian, Joint Director Isha Kumar, office-bearers G.S. Ganesh Rao, M. Sripathi and others were present.
