Bengaluru: The State Government on Monday extended the tenure of Bengaluru’s Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Director Dr. C.N. Manjunath by six months.
Dr. Manjunath has been serving as the Director of the Institute (popularly known as Jayadeva Hospital) since 2007 and his tenure had come to an end last year. But the then BJP Government extended his tenure by a year and accordingly his term was to end on July 19, 2023.
Now, the current Siddharamaiah Government has extended his tenure by six more months in view of the construction of 371-bed Jayadeva Hospital Unit at Kalaburagi.
“The new hospital will cater to six districts of Kalyana Karnataka and I have to make it functional within six months. I will also look after the existing centres where the caseload is rising. We are treating around 7 lakh outpatients annually,” said Dr. Manjunath.
Asked whether he is likely to get another extension once he completes the project, he said, “I will not take it.”
