Dr. Nithyanand Rao bereaved

Mysuru: Dr. N. Manamohan Rao, former President of Bangalore University Teachers Council and elder brother of Mysuru’s well-known Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. N. Nithyanand Rao, passed away in Bengaluru yesterday. He was 85.

He leaves behind his wife Bharathi and daughters Sumana and Sahana, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives, friends and students.

Last rites will be held on Saturday (Apr. 5) at 11.30 am at Banashankari crematorium, according to family sources.

Dr. Manamohan Rao, an alumnus of NIE in Mysuru, completed his M.Tech and Ph.D in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He served as Faculty of Engineering (Civil), Bangalore University; Principal of Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumakuru; Professor, Department of Environmental Engineering, Bangalore University; Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BIT and Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, NIE.

Dr. Rao was instrumental in starting the Department of Environmental Engineering at NIE.
