July 6, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the ongoing ‘One Week, One Laboratory’ at the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysuru, a walkathon under the theme ‘Eat Right’ was organised yesterday and over 500 youths and CFTRI staff and retired employees participated.

The participants emphasised the pivotal role of proper nutrition in promoting both personal well-being and the nation’s progress. The event was inaugurated by S.S. Umesh, Director of Mysuru’s All India Radio (Akashvani), who applauded CFTRI and the Mysuru AIR for their invaluable contributions to society.

He highlighted CFTRI’s significant achievements, particularly in providing high-quality and nutritious food for soldiers and spearheading advancements in agricultural practices and innovative technologies. The participants stressed the crucial connection between consuming wholesome meals and engaging in regular physical exercise for overall health improvement.

A key aspect of the event was to underscore the importance of proper walking techniques and pace in different contexts. Attendees were educated on the optimal walking methods, underlining the significance of timing and speed during various activities. The objective was to impart valuable knowledge to participants about incorporating effective walking practices into their daily routines.

Participants revelled in the refreshing surroundings as they imbibed the essential lessons of walking for better health.

Sridevi Annapurna Singh, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, said that walking must not be a one-day affair. “CFTRI has a vast campus and people must walk from one end to another instead of using their vehicles. This will promote good health,” she added.
