Education without Samskara is a threat to society: MLA Srivatsa

December 30, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: “Education must go beyond mere acquisition of knowledge and should nurture Samskara,” said MLA T.S. Srivatsa. Speaking as chief guest at the 18th Annual Day of Hari Vidyalaya, he cautioned that education devoid of Samskara could prove harmful to society.

“Knowledge can sharpen the intellect, but it is Samskara that shapes character. Without discipline, humility, self-restraint, humanity and Samskara, education remains limited to information and fails to guide society in the right direction,” he said.

Citing real-life examples, he added that there have been instances where individuals who rose from humble backgrounds to occupy high positions later fell into corruption cases, highlighting the absence of strong Samskara despite academic success.

The Annual Day of Hari Vidyalaya, located in Bogadi, was held at Kalamandira. Renowned folk scholar Dr. P.K. Rajashekhar, special invitee, said, “Rather than merely acquiring knowledge, one must engage in the company of the wise, listen to their discourses, and imbibe noble qualities.”

Students who excelled at national-level during 2025-26 were felicitated. This was followed by a series of cultural performances by students, including dances depicting Narasimha and Varaha avatars, Yakshagana and Panchatantra presentations.

Secretary of Hari Vidyalaya H.R. Bhagavan presided. Director Prof. K.V. Satyan, College Dean Brijesh Patel, Academic Coordinators Bhargav Ram, Janardhan and Ganesh were present.
