Mysuru: An elderly woman who was returning home after morning walk was allegedly robbed of her mangalsutra worth about Rs. 4.57 lakh at Nivedita Nagar in the city recently.
D.S. Gowramma, aged 78, a resident of Nivedita Nagar had reportedly gone for walk at first cross of the locality on Sunday (June 1). She was walking back towards home at about 8.30 am, when a stranger who appeared in front of her, snatched the mangalsutra weighing 52 grams. Gowramma, who was frightened was pushed down by the stranger, before she could raise an alarm. He later fled on a two-wheeler, parked nearby.
Gowramma, has suffered a bruise on her neck as the chain snatcher pulled off the valuable forcibly, according to a complaint lodged at Saraswathipuram Police station.
As per her description, the chain snatcher was aged about 35 years, wearing a half-arm shirt with pictures of flowers printed on it and a black pant.
The Police who have registered a case, have been verifying the footages of Closed Circuit TV Cameras installed near the crime scene, to track the suspect.
