Mysuru: An elocution competition on the topic ‘Life and Achievements of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam — Kalam Ge Salam’ was held for the Interactors at Sri Sai Baba High School in Jayalakshmipuram, recently.
In all, 26 children from seven Schools participated in the competition organised by Rotary Ivory City Mysuru.
The Schools are: Hardwicke High School, Govt. High School, Ashokapuram, Indra School, Government High School, Marballi, Sai Baba School, SSET School and Government High School, Lakshmipuram.
Nandita from SSET School won first prize while Adhyan from Sai Baba School won the second prize.
Dr. Jayaprakash Rao, a close associate of Dr. Kalam, was the chief guest and one of the judges. Dr. Rao was working in DRDO when Dr. Kalam was Director General and Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and had the rare privilege of serving as Liaison Officer and Programme Co-ordinator. He has translated Dr. Kalam’s autobiography ‘Wings of Fire’ into Kannada ‘Agniya Rekkegallu.’
Another judge was Rtn. Dr. M.K. Sachidanandan, retired Professor of Education, KSOU.
