The two-year-old tiger which had created panic among the residents of H.D. Kote and surrounding villages since about four days, was finally caught by the Forest Department in an operation yesterday evening.
The tiger was first spotted about four days ago at the fields in Naganahalli, Heggadaapura, Kattemanuganahalli villages creating panic among the villagers.
Even the Forest Department personnel had conducted a search for the tiger but were unable to capture the tiger as it had escaped.
Yesterday, villagers found the tiger trying to attack a goat which was grazing on the banks of River Taraka, near the field of one Cheluvaiah at Kattemanuganahalli and tried to rescue to goat by scaring the tiger besides informing RFO Madhu.
RFO Madhu and staff, who rushed to the spot, found the tiger and informed the higher officials. Soon, CCF Dr. V. Karikalan, Dr. Umashankar, Nagaraju, Madan and staff numbering more than 100, conducted the operation to trap the tiger and were successful capturing the tiger by tranquillising it at about 5.30 pm yesterday.
The tiger was later treated and shifted to Mysore Zoo.
