May 28, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: The 10th Graduation Day and Prof. Mani C. Mathew Endowment Award Ceremony was organised at St. Joseph’s First Grade College in Jayalakshmipuram recently.

Dr. N.S. Ramegowda, CEO, Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust and former Vice-Chancellor, KSOU, who was the chief guest on the occasion, opined that the educational landscape is highly dynamic which is constantly evolving. It is therefore vital for teachers to stay innovative and keep themselves abreast with the latest happenings, he added.

He said, the practice of affiliation, a British legacy, would vanish from 2035 and that this would add to the autonomy of colleges. In this regard, he urged the higher education institutions to go beyond the syllabus in order to maintain quality of education.

The speaker also highlighted the role of higher education institutions by stating that innovation in teaching, learning and evaluation; research and extension activities was vital for bridging the gap between lab and land.

Rev. Fr. Vijay Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent, Mysore Diocesan Education Society (MDES), in his presidential remarks, said: “Real education is beyond academic degrees and certificates. One’s education must reflect in his/her personality. Education must empower students to bring in a change in the society.”

Awards for The Best Outgoing Students, Pride of Joseph’s and Spirited Josephite were also given away to students who had performed remarkably well in curricular and co-curricular activities.
