Fair price shop owners to stage massive demonstration at Bengaluru on July 5

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their 10-point charter of demands, members of Bengaluru-based Karnataka State Government Fair Price Shop Owners Association will stage a demonstration at Freedom Park in Bengaluru at 10.30 am tomorrow (July 5).

The demands include payment of Rs.440 as commission for every quintal of rationed food grains sold, as recommended by World Food Programme of Union Finance Ministry; permission to sell oil, dal, sugar and other items of daily consumption  at fair price shops; permission for distribution of domestic LPG cylinders; supply of ration in jute sacks instead of plastic bags; declaration of fair price shop owners as Corona warriors; framing of a separate compensation policy in case of COVID death of fair price shop owners; entitling rural PDS distributors as Direct Procurement Agents (DPA), among others.
