Felicitation to senior citizens

Elder Citizens’ Council and Elder Citizens  Viswastha Mandali Trust will jointly observe  World Senior Citizens Day at its Saraswathi Samudaya Bhavana, Council premises, Jayalakshmipuram, on Oct. 12 at 10 am. MLA K. Harishgowda will inaugurate the programme. Former MLC D. Madegowda and former  VC of Kuvempu University Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda  will be felicitated on the occasion. World Senior Citizens Day is celebrated on Aug. 21 each year. The celebration took place for the first time in 1991. The Day intends to increase awareness of the factors and issues that affect older adults, such as health deterioration and elder abuse. It is also a Day to recognise and acknowledge the contributions of older people to society. S.V. Gowdappa, Chairman of ECC Trust, will be present. Dr. H.M. Nagaraju, President, Elder Citizens Council, will preside, according to a press release from K.S. Krishna, Council Secretary [Mob: 99804-12406].
