Mysuru: Prof. Mewa Singh, Distinguished Professor (for Life) and J.C. Bose National Fellow, University of Mysore, has been awarded “Science and Engineering Research Board Distinguished Fellowship” by the Science and Engineering Research Board, a Statutory Body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Only a few scientists in the country are honoured with this award. In addition to being a prestigious award, it also brings in Rs. one crore and thirty six lakhs towards research and honorarium.
Dr. Mewa Singh is a Fellow of all the three Science Academies of India and has also been a recipient of the other prestigious national awards including Raja Ramanna National Fellowship, and Jagdish Chandra Bose National Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, and Sundar Lal Hora Medal in Animal Sciences by the Indian National Science Academy. Dr. Singh’s research deals with ecology, animal behaviours, evolutionary biology, and wildlife conservation.
