Finally, Rangayana Mysuru gets a new Director

Engineering graduate-turned-theatre person Satish Tiptur to head city’s theatre repertory; Five other repertories across the State also get new Directors

Mysore/Mysuru: Finally, after over a year-long wait, Government has appointed Directors to six Rangayana theatre repertories in the State, including that of Mysuru on Monday.

According to a notification issued by Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, Satish Tiptur has been appointed as the Director of Rangayana Mysuru, Dr. Raju Talikote for Rangayana Dharwad, Prasanna D. Sagar for Rangayana Shivamogga, Dr. Sujatha Jangama Shetty for Rangayana Kalaburagi, Mallikarjun Kadakola for Rangayana Davangere and Venkataramana Aithal for Yaksha Rangayana in Karkala.

An Engineering graduate- turned-theatre person, Satish Tiptur is a native of Tumakuru district. He began his theatrical stint with Abhinaya Taranga, a theatre troupe in Bengaluru and later did his Diploma in Theatre Arts at Ninasam in Heggodu. He has his own theatre troupe named Bhoomi Theatre, which has produced several plays in the last 25 years of its existence.

Social responsibility

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Satish Tiptur said, he has been entrusted with a big social responsibility, with his appointment as the Director of Rangayana Mysuru.

“I have had 30 years experience in the field of theatre and I am confident of handling all the responsibilities in Rangayana. I thank Ranga Samaja for choosing me as Rangayana Director. I will discharge my duties towards encouraging the artistes and maintain transparency, keeping in mind the relevant challenges being faced by Rangayana,” said Satish Tiptur.

Members to Academies

The orders have also been issued, nominating various members to several academies in the State, that had fallen vacant. They are — Akshata M. Nayak for Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy; Vinod Moodagadde to Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruthi Mathu Sahitya Academy; Raghavendra Kinnal and Shivaprasad Channapatna to Karnataka Shilpakala Academy; H.S. Manjunath of Hassan to Karnataka Lalithakala Academy and Lakshman Hanamantha Desaratti as Additional Member of Karnataka Bayalata Academy.
