Fire destroys 50 acre of forest land in Nagarahole

Gonikoppa (Kodagu): Over 50 acres of forest land in Mathigodu Range comming under Nagarahole Reserve Forest was gutted in a fire on Feb. 3.

The fire was noticed in the afternoon at the forest near Anechowkur Gate. Forest Department Staff of Mathigodu and Thithimati Range managed to douse the fire. Fire Brigade of Gonikoppa and Periyapatna assisted. The fire is said to have been triggered by a few miscreants. A lot of dried trees, bamboo and birds are said to have been destroyed in the fire.

CCF Manikantan, ACF Sripathi, RFOs Kiran, Ashok and others visited the spot.
