Four-day musical treat at Nadabrahma

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has lined up four concerts in a row — One on May 28 in memory of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore K. Vasudevacharya and flute concerts in memory of Flute Mali from May 29 to 31.

May 28 (6 pm): Vid. Aswathanarayan from Chennai will give a vocal concert in memory of Sri Vasudevacharya. He will be supported on violin by Vid. B.K. Raghu, B.C. Manjunath on mridanga and  Omkar Rao on ghata.

The concert is being sponsored by late K.V. Murthy.

May 29 (6 pm): Flute Maestro T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concerts sponsored by Tyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha — Amith Nadig – flute, R. Dayakara – violin, H.L. Shivashankar Swamy – mridanga, Sharath Kaushik – ghata is the team to perform.

May 30 (6 pm): Flute Maestro T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concerts sponsored by Tyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, Vid. Mysuru. G. Mohan Rangan and Vid. G. Ravikiran – flute duet and Venkatesh Josier – violin, A.Radhesh – mridanga are accompanying the duo.

May 31 (6 pm): Flute Maestro T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concerts sponsored by T.R. Mahalingam Samsmarana Vedike.

Honouring of Vid. M.S. Srinivasamurthy with title ‘Venu Brahma’ followed by a flute concert by Vid. M.K. Pranesh on flute and the accompanying artistes will be Charulatha Ramanujan on violin, Arjun Kumar on mridanga and G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.

Awardee Profile

Born on 8.8.1931 in Mysuru, M.S. Srinivasa Murthy has globally contributed in the field of music & dance.  He started learning under his mother Rajamma. Observing his keenness in flute, he started learning flute under Guru M.R. Doreswamy.

He impressed in his very concert at the age of 16. The eminent artistes present were totally impressed & he has not looked back since then. Right from the age of 22  He has been travelling globally through his creativity — be in Karnatak Classical or supporting on flute to dance programme of all styles such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi or Kathak etc. He is a pride of the nation as not only he has played in the presence of President of India but also in UNO bringing  laurel to the country as well to himself. He is not only a good performer but also a good teacher. He has trained number of students who are in the fore front today.
