Mysuru: The District Administration, Department of Kannada and Culture and District Federation of Associations of Artistes in association with Suyog Hospital had organised a free health check-up camp for artistes and writers at Kalamandira here yesterday.
The artistes and writers were subjected to tests like blood pressure, blood glucose, ECG, ECHO and consultation with doctors of various specialisations.
Littérateur Dr.C.P. Krishnakumar inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion Suyog Hospital Chairman Dr.S.P. Yoganna opined that a good co-operation between a doctor and a patient was vital to cure any ailment. He contended that artistes and writers were the two eyes of the society whose health should be protected. He further said that the country was able to check the spread of epidemics but regretted that diabetes was on the rise which was a reflection of eating habits and lifestyle of people.
Social Activist P. Mallesh, Theatre artistes Mandya Ramesh, Rameshwari Verma, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture H. Channappa and others were present.
