Mysore/Mysuru: Srirampura Town Municipal Council (TMC) has constituted a special team to prevent dumping of wastes of all kind on the Ring Road coming under its jurisdiction.
Srirampura TMC Executive Officer Sridhar, in a press release, has stated that though Srirampura TMC has given prominence to keep the places under its jurisdiction clean, the public were still dumping wastes such as construction debris and household wastes on the sides of the nearby Ring Road thus spoiling the environment.
He has further stated that to prevent dumping of wastes, a special team has been formed, which would go around Srirampura TMC limits and impose spot fine of Rs. 500 on those found dumping wastes.
Pointing out that there are more than 10,000 residents in the TMC limits, the Executive Officer said that though garbage collection vehicles come to the doorstep of every house in the mornings, the residents were still dumping wastes on the sides of the Ring Road, thus spoiling the environment.
Stating that enough awareness programmes were held on cleanliness and residents were urged not to throw or dump wastes carelessly, he said that the efforts of Srirampura TMC has gone waste as a few residents were still dumping wastes on the Ring Road sides and hence the special team members were collecting spot fines on those found dumping wastes.
On Apr. 22, the special team found one Rangappa, arriving on a scooter and throwing wastes on the Ring Road side and the officials who caught him red handed, have collected Rs. 500 spot fine from him.
