Heartbeat of a lost legacy: Bal Bhavan

June 11, 2026

Sir,

Bal Bhavan, Mysuru’s legendary heritage building, once a beacon of history and a dream space for children, now stands in ruins. Stripped of its equipment and robbed of its spirit, it is only a shadow of its former self.

I raise my voice against the irresponsibility of the current authorities. I call upon all Mysureans to stand with me and help revive this precious legacy and bring Bal Bhavan back to life. Let us not allow history to fade away. This is our collective responsibility.

All the science-themed park equipment has disappeared. The toy train has been destroyed. No tracks, no cabins, nothing remains. The old film projector, once used for traditional movie screenings, now lies in a ruined state. Though too heavy to be removed, it remains abandoned on the premises.

Meanwhile, every fan, chair, microphone and speaker has been stolen. This is a cry for action. Our heritage deserves protection and preservation.

The authorities must act immediately to safeguard what remains of Bal Bhavan and initiate efforts to restore it. Mysuru must raise its voice and urge the authorities to look into this matter before this historic landmark is lost forever.
