Helicopter Joy Ride inaugurated

Mysuru:“Mysuru is a clean city and we have personally witnessed it from the sky. The helicopter joy ride gave us the opportunity to view the city from the top and we realised how beautiful, clean and green it looks,” exclaimed Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner G. Jagadeesha and Superintendent of Police Ravi D. Channannavar.

They were speaking after experiencing the Heliride, which was inaugurated by MLA M.K. Somashekar yesterday at the Lalitha Mahal Helipad and said “The heritage buildings look so enchanting. The Palace, City Corporation and many other buildings are a treat to the eyes with their majestic symmetry and architectural designs that we could see so clearly from the sky.”

Somashekar, who also went on the joy ride, said that the heliride had been arranged for the tourists to enjoy the beauty of Mysuru from the top. During Dasara a lot of visitors arrive in the city and are stunned to see the city so clean and with so many heritage structures.

“The heliride has been inaugurated today and it will go on till October 5. The people of Mysuru should make use of this opportunity to see their city from the skies,” the MLA said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Yogesh said that last year during the same time joy rides were introduced and there was very good response from the people of Mysuru. Keeping this in mind, this year we have started it six days before Navaratri begins. Already many Mysureans have shown interest in it and the demand could go up by as much as 30 to 40 per cent, he added.

Joy ride: The District Administration, Pawan Hans and Chapans Aviation have jointly organised the joy ride and it will be held from Sept. 16 to October 5 between 9 am and 5 pm. The ten-minute ride will cost Rs. 2,300 for each person and Rs. 2,200 for children below 6 years and physically disabled.

Tickets can be purchased from the helipad counters and also online at www.bookmyshow.com or www.mysoredasara.gov.in.

Tourism Department Deputy Director H.P. Janardhan, Information and Publicity Asst.Director R. Raju, Pawan Hans’ Jnanaprakash and others were present.
