High Property Tax but low standard roads

July 9, 2024

MCC’s landline number 0821-2418800 is always busy

Sir,

I am a resident of Ittigegud and have witnessed numerous complaints regarding road conditions and traffic issues, yet no action has been taken by the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) or the Traffic Police. Despite the increase in stamp duty on property taxes, the roads remain in a deplorable state.

Every day, someone either slips or falls at the end of 4th Cross Road due to a large manhole that has been exposed since a pipeline was laid four months ago. The problem doesn’t end there; the main road, used by thousands of vehicles daily, is also in terrible condition.

It has been over four months since the pipeline was laid, and the roads have yet to be asphalted. Who is responsible for this? Despite numerous complaints to the MCC, there has been no response or indication of when these roads will be repaired.

Whether or not there is a Corporator, the MCC must ultimately complete the job. The entire city of Mysore is plagued with bad roads and potholes, yet none of the elected representatives seem to care.

Additionally, when we try to call the MCC’s landline number (0821-2418800), it is always busy. Whether this is done intentionally or not is left to the readers to decide. Why do we, the residents of Mysuru, need the MCC if they cannot perform their duties? Is it time to consider involving private organisations?

All we, the citizens of Ittigegud, want are proper roads. But even this isn’t a priority for the MCC. We request that the MCC and our elected representatives take responsibility and ensure that all roads are in a motorable state.
