Indo International Premier Kabaddi League: Chennai defeats Pune Pride

An excellent performance by attacker Elayaraja who excelled with his raiding for Chennai Challengers, enabled them to register a upset 39-35 win over Zone-A leaders Pune Pride 39-35 in a absorbing league match on Sunday night at Chamundi Vihar Indoor Stadium in the Indo International Premier Kabaddi League (IIPKL)-2019.

Elayaraja scored 17 points in his 14 raid attempts for Chennai and impressed with his fluent raids. He was chosen as the Player of the Match and also the Raider and Best Defender of the Match. Sunil Kumar scored 6 points for Chennai and lent good support.

For Pune Pride, this was the second loss, and Amarjeeth Singh scored 11 points, while Sheikh Abdul chipped in with 9 points. At half-time, the winning team lead 22-13.

Pune Pride leads A-Zone with 12 points (8 played, 6 win, 2 loss), while Chennai has secured 7 points and is placed third in Zone-B. (7 played, 3 wins, 3 loss, 1 draw).

Bangalore beat Telugu Bulls

In the second league match of the day, Bangalore Rhinos drubbed Telugu Bulls 51-20 (ht-27-11). Vishal excelled for Bangalore Rhinos by scoring 21 points, while Lakhan Varkiya scored 6 points. Vishal was chosen as the Player of the Match and Raider of the Match. For Telugu Bulls, Abhinandan scored 6 points.

Bangalore Rhinos are placed second in Zone-A with 7 points (7 played, 3 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw), while Telugu Bulls are placed fourth in Zone-B with 2 points (8 played, 1 win, 7 losses).

Mumbai Che Raje beat Pondicherry

Maniveera Kantha’s inspiring play with 8 points and combined team effort by Mumbai Che Raje’s players enabled them to score a exciting 33-30 win over Pondicherry Predators in the first match of the day.

Mahesh Magdum scored 6 points for Mumbai. Suresh Kumar with 10 points for Pondicherry was chosen as the Player of the Match. Ravi Deswal was chosen as the Best Raider while Maniveera Kantha was chosen as the Best Productive Raider.

Mumbai is placed second in Zone-B with 8 points, while Pondicherry Predators are placed 3rd in Zone-A with 6 points.
