Sugama Sangeetha Academy Trust had organised a function ‘Kavi-Kavya-Gayana’ in memory of artiste S.G. Raghuram at Jaganmohan Palace here recently.  

Speaking on the occasion, poet Dr. Doddarangegowda opined that the Government should institute an award in memory of S.G. Raghuram to immortalise his contribution to music which should be presented to Sugama Sangeetha artistes. He regretted that media was encouraging superstitions, glorifying crimes and political squabbles without giving due consideration to  problems of farmers. He questioned the working ethics of Police force who have remained silent on growing crime rate like harassment on women.

He said that music and literature would tune the mind to active mode and added that music has a therapeutic property to cure illness of mind and body. However, he advised musicians to worship the art which should not be commercialised.

Retd. BARC Scientist Muliya Raghavaiah was felicitated on the occasion. Former Mayor Modamani inaugurated  the event. Trust President K.V. Murthy and Sugama Sangeetha artiste H.R. Leelavathi were present.
