Inter-Collegiate Group Folk Dance competition: Entries invited

The Cultural Forum-2024-25 of Maharani’s Women’s Commerce and Management College, Valmiki Road, Paduvarahalli in the city has organised Regional-level Inter-Collegiate Group Folk Dance competition on Nov. 7 at the college premises.

The rules related to the competitions are as follows:

1. No registration fee.

2. Only one team of 10 to 15 students from either a college or post-graduate department can participate, along with five musicians as co-artistes.

3. The time duration for each team to perform is 10 minutes.

4.  Any form of regional folk dance or ancient dance should be performed — like Pata Kunita, Puja Kunita, Goravara Nritya, Beesu Kamsale, Somana Kunita, Lingadheerana Kunita (Veerabhadrana Kunita), Kolata, Keelu Kudure Kunita, Maari Kunita, Bhagavanthike Mela, Tamate Mela etc.

5. The participating teams can be of either boy students or girl students or a mix of both boy and girl students.

6. Classical dance not allowed.

7. Pre-recorded music is prohibited.

8. The judgement will be based on the performance in sync with music, expression, make-up, costume, composition and the effect.

9. The decision of juries is final.

10. The winners will be presented with cash prizes in the following order: First prize – Rs. 20,000, Second prize – Rs.  15,000 and third prize – Rs. 10,000.

The prizes will be presented during the special programme organised as part of Kannada Rajyotsava on Nov. 8.
