Handloom and Silk Saree Expo from tomorrow
Mysuru: The National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) has organised ‘Silk Fab,’ a Handloom and Silk Saree Exhibition-cum-Sale at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Industrial Area, Ring Road, in city from Jan. 4 to 17 between 10 am and 9 pm.
The Silk Fab will be formally inaugurated on Jan. 5 at 4 pm by Nitesh Patil, Regional Commissioner, Mysuru.
The primary objective of this exhibition is to provide a wider market for handloom products manufactured by handloom weavers and Weaver Co-operative Societies and to preserve traditional handloom heritage from extinction.
This expo provides a single platform for weaver families who depend on handloom weaving for their livelihood to directly market their products. Over 60 handloom weavers and artisans from across the country are participating in the Silk Fab Expo. Handloom silk sarees and products from over 19 States of India are being displayed and sold.

Products on display and sale include Karnataka silk sarees and cotton sarees, floor coverings and bed sheets, pure Kanchipuram silk sarees, Tussar silk sarees from Bihar and Jharkhand, Kantha, Baluchari sarees from West Bengal, Banarasi silk sarees and Chikankari embroidered sarees from Uttar Pradesh, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk sarees from Madhya Pradesh, Sambalpuri, Ikat and Bomkai sarees from Odisha.
Also Pashmina shawls from Kashmir, Gadwal, Kalamkari and Pochampally sarees from Andhra Pradesh, sarees from Chhattisgarh, furnishing products from Haryana, stoles and bed sheets from Manipur, sarees and dress materials from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, silk sarees and dress materials from Assam and handicraft products made by skilled artisans will be available at the venue.
