Mysore/Mysuru: The 65th International Nirantara Kalemane Utsava was held at Kumar Performing Arts Centre in city recently.
During the event, ‘Kalemane Kalashree Award’ was conferred upon three distinguished achievers: Dr. Nagaraj V. Bairy (District President of Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishat), Jyothi Shankar (Assistant Professor of Kannada and Gamaki at KSOU) and B.K. Meenakshi (retired Head Mistress and Writer).
Additionally, senior journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar, recipient of this year’s Karnataka State Rajyotsava Award, was felicitated in the presence of Dr. K. Kumar, Head of Kumar Performing Arts Centre and Ranganath Mysuru.
The audience was treated to melodious Kannada songs by Vidu. Mahalakshmi and her troupe from Savigaana Sangeetha Shaale and a semi-classical music performance by Art Director Dharithri Ananda Rao and her team from Naadapushpa Sangeetha Shaale.
The stage also witnessed captivating Bharatanatyam performances by the disciples of Vid. Harish Raman (Sri Rajarajeshwari Nrityakala Mandira, Tumakuru), Samyuktha Shankar and her students (Sachidananda Arts Foundation, Bengaluru) and Apeksha Kamath, a disciple of Acharya Indira Kadambi.
