City student Mukkattira Kalpana Kuttappa has been selected to take part in the World Speed Skating Championship 2023 to be held in Vicenza, Italy, from Aug. 27 to Sept. 3.
She is one among the 16- member Indian team which will take part in the Meet.
Having started her skating career at the age of four, Kalpana has excelled in State and National-level Skating competitions and has bagged several medals including 50 gold.
She was also part of the 19-member Indian team that took part in the World Skate Games 2022 in Argentina.
Kalpana is pursuing her first year degree in Christ College, Mysuru. She is the daughter of M.S. Ravi and T.K. Swathi couple, residents of Mahadeshwara Layout. Kalpana is being trained under Ekalavya awardee Prateek Raja.
Currently, Kalpana is attending the Indian camp in Bengaluru and the Team India will leave for Italy in August last week.
