Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka State Under-09 Open and Girls Chess Championship concluded at Mysore Chess Centre at Friends Sports Zone, K.C. Layout, Siddarthanagar, Mysuru, recently.
Ayaan Phutane of Bengaluru Urban drew with S. Sragvidha of Bengaluru Urban to clinch the title with 7-and-a-half points. S. Sragvidha secured 2nd place with a better tie break when compared to Dhruv K. Dileep of Bengaluru Urban who tied with 7-and-a-half points.
Rajeswari Aiyappan of Mysuru clinched the title with 1 draw against Niyola Pinto of Shivamogga to remain undefeated in the 8 round format with a score of 7.5. K.R. Soukhya of Kolar came second.
Rotarian Advocate Rohit Subbaiah distributed prize for the winners. Top two players from each category will represent Karnataka in the upcoming Nationals to be held at Maharashtra from Nov. 15 to Nov. 23.
