Kodagu hit by traffic jams during weekends

May 12, 2025

Siddapura (Kodagu): With tourists flocking the Hilly Kodagu district, popularly known as Kashmir of Karnataka, almost all roads leading to various tourist spots in the district are witnessing huge traffic jams these days, especially during weekends. The popular tourist spots in the district include Nisargadhama near Kushalnagar, Harangi Dam near Kushalnagar, Dubare Elephant Camp, Abbey Falls, Raja Seat at Madikeri, Talacauvery, the birth place of River Cauvery, Bhagamandala and Chiklihole Dam among others.

The tourist inflow to the district has only risen after the Pahalgam terror and the subsequent Indo-Pak tension as tourists, who had planned a trip to Kashmir during the summer season, are turning to Kodagu, which is popular for its coffee plantations, hilly terrains, lush greenery and forests to spend their holidays and make their trip memorable. Due to the tourist influx, many roads across the district are witnessing traffic jams, with a large number of vehicles carrying tourists arriving in the district.

Meanwhile, Kodagu is the 7th most searched tourist spot in the country in Google, it is learnt.
