Maintaining that the KPCC President’s Post is not vacant for now, AICC General Secretary and Congress party’s Karnataka in-Charge Digvijay Singh has dismissed speculations that hectic lobbying has begun for KPCC President’s post.
Speaking to the presspersons here this morning, Digvijay Singh lauded party’s victory in the recently held Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-polls.
Criticising former CM Yedyurappa for claiming that the Lingayat community was with the BJP, he said the victory of the Congress in both the constituencies was proof that the Lingayat community was very much with the Congress.
Thanking the voters for extending support to the Congress, Digvijay Singh said he would advise the Congress leaders to work more towards strengthening the party.
Singh arrived in Bengaluru on Monday night reportedly to hold talks with CM Siddharamaiah and other top party leaders on the choice of KPCC President.
Meanwhile, some of the suspended JD(S) MLAs met Digvijay Singh at the Chief Minister’s official residence here this morning and discussed their plans on joining the party, it is learnt.
