Mysore/Mysuru: In the light of the recent tragic incident involving a school girl who lost her life after slipping from a moving KSRTC bus in Haveri, the authorities have taken immediate action to address passenger safety concerns. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has issued guidelines to all Divisional Controllers (DCs) to prioritise the safety of passengers.

“It is our utmost duty to ensure the safety of all passengers travelling in our buses. The unfortunate incident in Haveri, where a girl student lost her life due to severe head injuries, is deeply regrettable,” stated Minister Ramalinga Reddy, emphasising the importance of passenger safety.

According to the guidelines, drivers are required to ensure that the bus doors are in proper condition before departing from the respective depots. The bus driver should commence the journey only after receiving a signal from the conductor, ensuring that the rear door is securely locked.

It is essential to prevent passengers from travelling on the foot board of the bus. Prior to starting the vehicle, the bus driver must ensure that both the rear and front doors are closed. Furthermore, the circular from KSRTC Director (Personnel and Vigilance) states that the bus doors should not be opened until the designated stopping points, such as the bus stand or bus bay, are reached.
