Mysore/Mysuru: Srimad Bhagavatha, one of the Ashtadasha (18) Purnas is well-known as ‘Moksha Shastra,’ a perfect blend of ‘Jnana’ (knowledge) and ‘bhakti’ (devotion).
Listening to ‘Bhagavatha’ encapsulates the essence of ‘Vedas’ and the ‘Upanishads’ and grants ‘Mukti’ (salvation) from shackles of ‘Punarjanma.’
But how far this is relevant to present day life? What is the poetic beauty of ‘Bhagavatha’? Dr. Veena Bannanje will deliver her lectures in this background.
Dr. Veena is a spiritual ‘Sadhaki’ who has imbibed the teachings of her father Bannanje Govindacharya and her spiritual Guru Satyakama. She resigned her teaching job in Udupi and immersed herself in the spiritual journey with the great master Satyakama. She has authored more than 22 books. ‘Akkana Dwaitha’, ‘Santeyalondu Mane’, ‘Satyakamarondige Nanna Savirada Dinagalu’, ‘Allamopanishat’ are some of her works.
A recipient of many awards such as ‘Sahityasri’ award from Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Vachanasri & M.K. Indira Awards, Dr. Veena Bannanje reiterates that ‘none of this is me.’ She is a towering presence in the Indian spiritual tradition and an extraordinary speaker. These lectures are being organised by ‘Parampare’ from Dec. 22 to 28 at Mysore Vasudevacharya Bhavana on JLB Road, everyday at 6 pm. For details, contact Mob: 99860-37311.
