Mysuru: Youths consuming liquor after parking their vehicles on the side of the road atop Chamundi Hill in broad daylight has irked devotees coming to the Hill Temple.
It is learnt that a group of five to six youths, who parked their car on the roadside near the View Point, sat on the retaining wall and consumed liquor. This is the road used by hundreds of devotees to go to the Hill Temple and despite seeing the devotees passing by, the youths did not care and continued to consume liquor and smoke cigarettes thus desecrating the religious sanctity of Chamundi Hill.
Also, youths are found partying on the stretch of the road leading to Uttanahalli from atop the Hill. To prevent such activities, Police have commenced patrolling. As the Police do not patrol in a few places in the vicinity of the Hill, the youths are indulging in merry-making by consuming liquor in such places.

Tourists visiting Taraka Backwaters near H.D. Kote are also indulging in consuming liquor which is evident from empty liquor bottles strewn around the backwaters. Tourists coming from many places including Bengaluru and Kerala in their vehicles, switch on the music systems, increase the volume and indulge in consuming liquor and dance at the backwaters besides breaking glass bottles in drunken stupor.
This place, which comes under National Tiger Project, is now filled with empty liquor bottles and the tourists, after consuming liquor are also throwing empty bottles into the river. Broken glass bottles are even found on the river bed, which is posing danger to many wild animals which come to the backwaters to quench their thirst.
