Mysore/Mysuru: Mahajana College hosted its Annual Parents’ Meet recently, welcoming parents, students, and guests to an evening of insightful discussions and shared visions for the future.
In his address as chief guest, S.N. Sandesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (CCB) Mysuru, shed light on the pressing issues faced by today’s youth. He emphasised that over-parenting and parental negligence were among the root causes behind these challenges. He stressed the importance of a student’s role and their focus on education as the key to success.
Education, in his view, is not merely about academic achievements but also about shaping well-rounded individuals who are academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally strong, with a deep appreciation for culture and moral values. He called for a collective effort involving college administrations, teachers, and parents to ensure the comprehensive development of students.
Furthermore, Sandesh Kumar underscored the need for educational institutions to instil in students a sense of national pride and cultural heritage, making them responsible and socially aware citizens.
P. Sumalatha, President of the Parents’ Association, applauded Mahajana College for its commi-tment to individualised student care and encouraged parents to actively engage with teachers and support their children’s participation in college activities.
Principal Dr. B.R. Jayakumari highlighted the institution’s academic freedom as an autonomous institution, allowing for industry-oriented and job-oriented syllabi. She underlined that a parent’s role extends beyond admission, urging parents to foster a strong relationship with the institution to ensure their children’s social and academic growth.
Secretary Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar expressed the management’s dedication to student welfare, providing free education for meritorious students and fee concessions for those from defence backgrounds. She encouraged students to take full advantage of the academic and co-curricular opportunities.
The event also saw the selection of office-bearers for the Parents Association 2023-24, who pledged to work closely with the institution for the betterment of students. Office-bearers of Parents Association 2023-24 were chosen on the occasion.
Dr. Vinodamma welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. Poornima proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. H.R. Thimmegowda, HoD, Kannada, was the master of the ceremony. Archana and team rendered invocation.
