Man held for stealing autorickshaws

Vehicles worth Rs. 2.60 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Metagalli Police have arrested a man on charge of stealing autorickshaws and have recovered three passenger autos worth Rs. 2.60 lakh from him.

The arrested man is Kiran of the taluk. He was arrested on the Outer Ring Road near Hotel Royal Inn Junction on Oct. 15 by the Police who were on patrol.

On Oct. 11, one Narayan had parked his passenger auto on the 7th Cross in B.M. Sri Nagar and had gone to his friend’s house for lunch. When he returned he found his auto stolen and had lodged a complaint at Metagalli Police Station.

The Police, who had registered a case, began working on the case and on Oct. 15, when the Police were on their routine patrolling, saw an auto parked near the Under-Bridge on the Ring Road and went near it to investigate. On seeing the Police approaching the auto, the auto driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. However, the Police chased and  managed to catch hold of him.

Later, the Police verified the details of the auto in Mobile Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (MCCTNS) App and learnt that the auto was stolen.

The Police later brought accused Kiran to the Station and on further interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed that he had lifted three autorickshaws. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered three stolen autos. With this, auto theft cases,  registered in Metagalli, Devaraja and Mandi Police Stations are solved.

Vijayanagar Sub-Division ACP G.S. Gajendra Prasad guided Metagalli Inspector R. Diwakar, Sub-Inspectors Jyotsna Rao and Shabareesh, ASI Joseph Noronha and staff Krishna, K.N. Harish, Parashuram Rathod, K.S. Prathap, N.R. Vittal and Nandeesh in the nabbing and recovery operation.
