Man sentenced to five years jail for killing colleague

April 6, 2025

Mysuru: City’s 5th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to five years imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 25,000 after he was found guilty of murdering his colleague, who had abused his mother using foul language.

The man, who was sentenced is Angrez Ram, a native of Evad village, Jahel taluk, Nagpur district in Rajasthan, who was working as a stone polisher at Avishkar Stone Factory at Tandya Industrial Area in Nanjangud. The victim is Suresh, colleague of Ram, who was his relative.

After Ram joined the stone factory, his relatives Suresh and Mukesh, joined the same factory and the three were staying in the room allotted by the factory management.

On Oct. 24, 2022, when Ram and Suresh were chatting outside the room, Suresh abused Ram’s mother using foul language. Angered over this, Ram hit Suresh with a wooden stick resulting in Suresh bleeding profusely and breathing his last on the spot.

Based on the complaint from deceased Suresh’s brother Mukesh, Nanjangud Rural Inspector Shivananjashetty registered a case and had submitted a chargesheet to the Court.

Judge K . Bhagya, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found the accused Ram guilty of the crime and sentenced him to five years jail besides imposing a fine of Rs. 25,000. The Judge also ordered Ram to undergo an additional one year simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. Public Prosecutor T.H. Lolakshi argued for the Government.
